About Us

In 1986 a local Queenstown family, the Wilson’s, established the Kiwi Birdlife Park and the family are still independently running the Park today.  In the early 1980’s the Park was a Queenstown refuse centre.  The Wilson’s spent two years transforming it into a beautifully naturally landscaped Park filled with a variety of endangered native birds and plants.  Almost 25 years later it boasts mature established native trees and wildlife.

Visitors to the Park can be entertained by the live conservation show held two times daily.

The eight acres of the park have been designed to offer Queenstown’s visitors an easy stroll around New Zealand native bush.

We recommend guests spend approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour visiting the Park.  In that time they can enjoy a live conservation show (approximately 30 minutes), kiwi feedings, audio tours and enjoy time viewing the native birds and shop in our retail centre. In Winter 2009 we also introduced a selection of adult and childrens puzzles in our cafe to stimulate the mind!
