We’ve had a busy start to our breeding season this year with the warmer temperatures beginning earlier than expected! Seven pāteke ducklings have hatched, while five whio eggs are due to hatch soon! Our whio has begun laying her second clutch of eggs, and we’re hoping for more whio chicks to hatch.
We have several species of bird that are part of breed for release programs, meaning that every bird that hatches here will be released into the wild. We wouldn’t be able to do any of our conservation work without our visitors, so thank you for your support. Stay tuned for more news on our chicks!
