What To Expect 

We have 5 acres of native bush dedicated to the important conservation work helping New Zealand’s wildlife. We are home to over 20 native species of wildlife all here through managed conservation programs or in rehab due to injury. 

On your visit you will learn about our conservation work and efforts throughout New Zealand as you explore and see wildlife in their exhibits. You may see wild birdlife throughout the park as well, like tui, kākāriki, korimako (bellbird), piwakawaka (fantail), kererū, riroriro (grey warbler), and the kārarea (NZ falcon).

With each ticket comes access to our kiwi encounters, conservation shows, and included self-guided audio tours. Each ticket is valid for three consecutive days, and most guests spend an average of 2 hours during their visit.

Kiwi Encounters

Have you ever thought about what a kiwi eats for breakfast? Or wondered why they are the only bird in the world with nostrils at the tip of their beak? Relax and let our team of passionate wildlife keepers educate you with astonishing facts about these weird and wonderful birds. Our specially designed nocturnal house will provide you with the best kiwi viewing in the country.

Conservation Show

Here you’ll meet the stars of our park. It’s New Zealand wildlife in close-up. 


Be amazed by the size, colour and intelligence of our native birds as they fly in our outdoor theatre. Presented by the park’s team of skilled and passionate animal keepers this entertaining show will have you laughing, learning and discovering just how special our native wildlife really is and the threats they face in the wild

A unique and memorable event that is sure to be the highlight of your Kiwi Bird Park experience.

Self-guided audio Tour

The Wilson family has been involved in caring for our native New Zealand wildlife for generations, so who better to tell you what an important role the park plays in ensuring the future of our unique wildlife?


Specially recorded individual commentary players mean you can hear all about the family’s work from the people at the heart of the operation since 1986. Your personally controlled audio player allows you to roam around the park at your own pace. Beautifully produced, educational and fun!
